Soooo many characters. Mentioned, and seen. Finally some Ted Kord.

Did you get to make new designs for this issue? Bette? Ted?

  • By Christopher Jones, September 21, 2012 @ 7:02 am

I had an existing design for a holographic image of Ted Kord to reference, although I added the Beetle Gun. The one major character I got to design for the issue was Brainiac, who you’ll be seeing more of in upcoming issues!

I like Brainiac’s design. It’s something new, but in the same time, combining the old elements – green skin plus the head shape of the robot days. His lower body seems robotic too – is he a robot or organic? Or both?

I’ll be doing a blog post about that design soon. Greg wanted an original design and the starting point was going back to the original concept – a green skinned alien that has been made into a cyborg. But Greg wanted the Young Justice version to look truly alien; still humanoid but not just a green bald guy.

Looking forward to it. Last four issues did not have enough new characters for a design blog.

In other news, did you happen to use [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:El_paso_downtown_main.jpg this image] for reference?

That link wasn’t working. I’m guessing you mean this image? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:El_paso_downtown_main.jpg
If so, yes! I couldn’t afford a trip to El Paso to shoot my own photo reference for the one panel…

Excellent work on this issue, it felt like you stepped it up a couple notches. At first I was worried about getting cross eyed over the time skips but this Team Year ___ format is great!

Thanks a lot! I was really happy with this one, too. Wait until you see what’s coming up!

This question might sound a little out of nowhere, but are there going to be any nightwing and batgirl interactions/team-ups/moments? Sorry, I’m a big fan of them haha :) Love your art, by the way :D

    Yes. Keep reading…
    And thanks!

I’ve another question. About the Qurac flashback/Year One timeline: why was half that scene repeated from the last issue?

  • By Christopher Jones, October 20, 2012 @ 2:32 pm

I think just to re-cap and clarify that the new material followed immediately after Clark and Jimmy’s departure as seen in the previous issue.
