Christopher Jones at C2E2 2016

I’m headed to Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo this weekend! I’ll be at Artist Alley table U1 for all three days of the convention. And for the first time, my pal Mister J will be joining me! (Sat and Sun only)

He’s been helping with my Artist Alley table for a couple years and has become a welcome facet at New York Comic Con, but this will be his first C2E2. I’m sure he’ll cause all kinds of ABSOLUTELY NO TROUBLE AT ALL, YOU HEAR THAT Mr. J???

Anyway, here’s a handy map to help you find us at the con!

2016 Con Exclusive Free Mini-Print

Those who have been following me for a while know that C2E2 is also where I unveil my new FREE mini-print for the year! These are convention exclusive 4″x6″ signed prints that can only be obtained by visiting me at a convention and showing me that you follow me on Facebook or Twitter. It’s a way that I can say thank you to my fans for sticking around. And they’re sort of starting to become collectible, apparently.

I’ll admit it. This year’s mini-print was based on a pun. I call it “The Millennial Falcon”. There’s just something fun and awesome about Falcon taking a selfie, though.

I’ll still have my mini-prints from previous years for C2E2 since I’m driving (not worrying about luggage weight really increases what I can bring with me!) So if you’ve missed one, get it while you can.

New Prints Since Last Year

I’ve got a few new 11″x17″ full color and 9.5″x11″ full color AND black-and-white prints for purchase since last year’s C2E2, too. I think you guys are going to like these. As usual, I’ll be offering all of my prints at a significant discount from my Etsy store prices.

This includes my new “Last Look” Doctor Who print, guaranteed to pull at your heartstrings…

Don’t Forget to EAT SOMETHING

Yes, there’s a lot going on at a big convention like C2E2, and yes, the food court can be kind of expensive if you’re attending the con on a budget. I’ve been there. We’ve all been there. But it’s important to eat, so if you for whatever reason need a snack during the convention, stop by my table (U1) and ask for a granola or breakfast bar. I’ve once again bought a couple big boxes from Costco to share with fans who need it. Free. I do this at all the big conventions because taking care of yourself is important, guys.

Cosplay Repair Kit!

New this year, I will also have a cosplay repair kit with sewing stuff, different sorts of tape, contact cement, and other misc. cosplay repair items. Just ask if you need to use it.

Looking forward to seeing all you wonderful Chicago people again!

Lastly, just to cover a few other questions I often get on twitter:

  • Autographs are always free and I’ll sign anything you bring me. (Check out my guide to asking for signatures and drawings at conventions!)
  • I do not charge for photos and I am happy to take a photo with anyone who asks!
  • I’m happy to do interviews, podcasts, snippets, goofy stuff, and whatever any day but Sunday, but the earlier you can drop by, the better!
  • I will draw any cannon character ship kissing if asked. I will draw any two characters together doing non-romantic/sexual things, regardless of whether it’s cannon or not.

Please stop by and say hello, grab your free mini-print, and if you’re cosplaying, let me take a photo for my Facebook page. Oh, I have an Instagram now too, so some photos might also end up on there. We shall see…

Now, what else was there…

Oh yes….

YAAAAYYYYYYYY C2E2 YAAaAYAAAAY!!!

This weekend (May 29-31) I’ll be a featured guest at CONsole Room 2015: The Twin Cities Dilemma , a Doctor Who convention here in my local Twin Cities, MN held at the Hilton Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport. Here’s my schedule for the weekend:

Join CONsole Room chairperson Jason Tucker along with all of our guests to bid farewell to CONsole Room 2015. Don’t worry though – you’ll also get to hear a little bit about what we have planned for CONsole Room 2016!

The Guest of Honor at CONsole Room this year is Doctor Who‘s Sixth Doctor, Colin Baker. Given that, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to add an 11×17″ color portrait of The Sixth Doctor to my collection of Doctor Who prints!

Christopher Jones at C2E2 2015

I’m headed to Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo this weekend! C2E2 is a con I’ve made a point to get to every year, partially just because it’s driveable for me—an 8-hour road trip but still driveable—which means I can actually bring short boxes of comics. So if anybody is looking for apparently-hard-to-find issues of The Batman Strikes!, you’re in luck! I also like C2E2 because it’s run by ReedPOP, who have always been good to me, and on top of that, seem to try to prioritize positive fan experiences and safety. (Seriously – just have a look at their anti-harassment policy.) I like that in a con.

I’ll be at Artist Alley table U10 for all three days of the convention. Here’s a handy map to help you find me!

For this year, all three mini-prints are still free (choose one per visit) but next year I may start charging for previous years’ so get yours while you can! Anyway, without further adieu, here’s my 2015 free convention exclusive mini-print!

One Last Thing…

So, I don’t know the specifics, but Hal tells me that you guys probably will not want to miss Gene Ha’s spotlight panel on Friday at 12:30pm. I understand he’s announcing some big new project that will probably appeal to fans of all-ages works like Young Justice. Plus, “Special edition preview comic for Panel Attendees only!”

Okay, time to collect Hal and Jenna and hit the road in my fancy new-to-me-and-actually-made-in-this-century Dodge Caravan. This is my friend Jenna’s first forray to C2E2. I’m looking forward to her reaction to the thing. Please stop by at the con and say hi! Looking forward to seeing all you wonderful Chicago people again!

I’ll be appearing at ComicCard AND Anime Detour in MN this Weekend

I have a crazy busy weekend planned. During the days I’ll be making appearances at ComicCard and Anime Detour, and in the evenings I will be on stage at the Bryant Lake Bowl as a guest performer in Vilification Tennis. Whew! Here are all the details!

ComicCard_Tagline
Saturday March 28 I will be a Guest at ComicCard along with fellow comics creators Dave Wheeler, Frank Fosco, and Dave Strong.

ComicCard brings the best of comic books, sports cards, memorabilia and pop culture collectibles under one roof, and will also feature sports guests including former Vikings Tommy Kramer and Henry Thomas.

I will be selling comics, comic art and print as well as doing sketches. I’ll also have free mini-prints for my Facebook and Twitter followers! Admission is only $5 and kids get in free, so stop by and say hello!

Detour 2015 photo

Of course Anime Detour is also this weekend and I didn’t want to miss out on seeing my fans there, so I’ll be there but on Friday and Sunday ONLY.

Look for me in the Featured Artists section on the second floor. I’ll be selling art prints, original art, custom sketches, comics, and I’ll have FREE mini-prints for my Facebook and Twitter followers.

And, since it is an anime convention, I will of course don my very beautiful flower crown. Because, as was established at Anime Detour last year, I AM A PRETTY PRINCESS.

(When in rome, right?)

If that’s not enough opportunities to see me this weekend, I’ll also be a guest performer in Vilification Tennis at the Bryant Lake Bowl on Friday & Saturday at 10pm each night. It’s the annual Game Show installment of everyone’s favorite foul-mouthed Twin Cities comedy show. Tickets are $15 at door, $12 advance purchase or with Fringe button or with CONvergence badge.

Sunday night I will hopefully be resting comfortably at home, and (hopefully) not in the Intensive Care Unit of a local hospital.

In 1956 police scientist Barry Allen became the second character to don the mantle of The Flash, launching the Silver Age of Comics. After many years of wonderful stories by John Broome and Carmine Infantino, Barry fell into the hands of writers who, not understanding him, ruined him, leading to a mercy killing while saving the multiverse in 1985. But Barry’s fans stuck by him,and he returned in a 1990-1991 TV series, a comics reboot, and a wonderful new TV series. We’ll talk about Barry’s history for about 25 minutes, then open up for a discussion of TV’s new The Flash.

And, since it’s happening close to the con, I’m also hoping to stop in to see some friends perform at Die Laughing 2: Laugh Harder. We’ll see if I manage that. I donated some art to their silent auction either way, so hopefully they know I support them even if I can’t make it to the actual event.

Okay, time to run a bunch of errands before going to the con. Hey, it wouldn’t be a convention if you didn’t do at least a few things at the last minute, right?
