Help bring Inspector Spacetime to CONvergence!

I helped start a sci-fi convention called CONvergence here in Minnesota back in 1999, and still work on it now that it’s grown to a 4-day, 6,000-person event. This year’s CONvergence theme is British Invasion, and it seemed like a no-brainer to bring my friend Travis Richey (aka Inspector Spacetime) to the convention. If you’re a fan of NBC’s Community, you probably know who The Inspector is – traveling through time and space on British television since 1962.

Travis wanted to come, so Hal Bichel and I took it upon ourselves to make it happen. We’re doing an IndiGoGo lightning campaign to help cover the costs, as airfare and hotels aren’t cheap and we’re not made of money! Denver Comic Con THIS WEEKEND – Schedule Update

I’ll be joining my Young Justice partner-in-crime Greg Weisman at the Denver Comic Con this weekend, so it’ll be a great opportunity to get us BOTH to sign all those Young Justice comic books and prints! And Young Justice fans also won’t want to miss Khary Payton (the voice of Aqualad) and Kelly Hu (the voice of Cheshire) who will also be there!

I’ll be kicking off my time in Denver with the Denver Comic Con Pre-Party on Thursday night starting at 6:00pm at Mile High Comics. So if you’re in the area, come and say hi! (I’ve never been to Denver before and could definitely use suggestions for where to spend my time outside of the convention.)

Once the convention gets underway, you’ll be able to find me at CC9 in the “Comic Book Classroom Corral” area all three days. Here’s a handy map to help you find my table:

Young Justice Meet-up

We’ll be convening in Room 104 at the conclusion of the “Nuts and Bolts of Writing Comics” panel (which features Greg Weisman and a host of other powerhouse comics writers.) Greg will join us for photos and an informal chat about Young Justice and its fandom. This will be your best opportunity at the con if you want photos with both Greg and me. Come hang out with us!

Signing at the Aurora Rise Booth

Aurora Rise is a Section 501(c)(3) non profit charitable organization founded in the wake of the Century 16 Aurora theater shooting on July 20, 2012. It has been created by victims to help other victims with small acts of assistance and kindness.

I will be spending some time at their booth, signing these black and white 4×5″ Young Justice mini-print cards for FREE. I encourage you while you’re there to check out the cool merchandise, limited edition prints and First EVER Limited Edition Aurora Rise Sketchbook Vol 1 that they’ll have available at the convention! I will be doing commission sketches ($60 full characters; $30 headshots) and I will have Young Justice trade paperbacks for sale, as well as a few Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes trades and a couple copies of the new Day of Judgement trade paperback. (There’s a story about that last one… ask at your own risk!!) Oh, and let’s not forget…

Denver Comic Con – May 31-June 2 2013

What a crazy month! It seems like just yesterday I was at the C2E2 convention in Chicago, then it was Free Comic Book Day at The Source Comics and Games, last weekend it was MCBA Springcon, and now I’m getting ready to head off to  Denver Comic Con – and I can’t wait! I’ll be joining my Young Justice partner-in-crime Greg Weisman at the Denver show, so it’ll be a great opportunity to get us BOTH to sign all those Young Justice comic books and prints! I’m really looking forward to this, and it’ll be my first visit to Denver if you don’t count layovers at the airport.

At my table, I am happy to sign anything you bring me! I will be doing commission sketches, and I will have comics and Young Justice trade paperbacks for sale.

In addition to my Young Justice prints, I’ll have plenty of other 11″×17″ prints for $20 each, some of which you can see here.

MCBA Springcon – May 18-19, 2013

I’ll be there selling prints , Young Justice and Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes trade paperbacks, and doing commission sketches from 10am to 5pm both days!

Coming to Hal-Con – Nov 8-10 2013!

Just announced – I’ll be a Guest at Hal-con in Halifax, Nova Scotia this November 8-10! This will be my first visit to Canada ever and my first convention outside the USA! I couldn’t be more excited!

I’ve been intrigued by Hal-Con since they first got on my radar. Hal-con describes itself as the largest Sci-Fi/Comics/Gaming/Fantasy convention in Atlantic Canada, and they sound to me like something of a cousin-to-the-North of CONvergence, the convention I helped start here in Minnesota back in 1999. They’re a big, friendly fan-run convention, with programming and year-round community events that sound a lot like what I know from my years of involvement with CONvergence.

Hal-con even has their own Robot Mascot: Nelson who has his own origin-story video!

Hal-Con also has a robust YouTube channel, with the slogan “not quite entirely unlike live coverage.” Check out the Superhero Workout.

I’ll have more information about my appearance at Hal-con as the dates get closer. In the mean time you can check out their website for more information about the convention.

By the way, my appearance at Hal-Con as a Guest came about because of a conversation that started because a fan asked the convention about having me there. If you want to see me at a convention near you, letting the convention organizers know is the best way to make it happen. Most conventions have a survey or other channels for input from fans/members/attendees. Let them know if you want to see me there!
