MCBA Springcon – May 18-19, 2013

If you haven’t had a chance to see me this month, it hasn’t been for a lack of me trying!

I’ll be signing and sketching at Springcon on Saturday May 18 and Sunday May 19, helping the Minnesota Comic Book Association (MCBA) celebrate their 25th Anniversary! We’ll be filling the Minnesota State Fairgrounds Grandstand with all the comic book geekery you can shake a Pronto-Pup at (Pronto-Pup’s not provided).

I’ll be there selling prints , Young Justice and Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes trade paperbacks, and doing commission sketches from 10am to 5pm both days!

I’ll be selling my 11″×17″ prints (all the same ones I just had at the C2E2 convention) for $20 each , which is $10 less than from my Etsy store! Coming to Hal-Con – Nov 8-10 2013!

Just announced – I’ll be a Guest at Hal-con in Halifax, Nova Scotia this November 8-10! This will be my first visit to Canada ever and my first convention outside the USA! I couldn’t be more excited!

I’ve been intrigued by Hal-Con since they first got on my radar. Hal-con describes itself as the largest Sci-Fi/Comics/Gaming/Fantasy convention in Atlantic Canada, and they sound to me like something of a cousin-to-the-North of CONvergence, the convention I helped start here in Minnesota back in 1999. They’re a big, friendly fan-run convention, with programming and year-round community events that sound a lot like what I know from my years of involvement with CONvergence.

Hal-con even has their own Robot Mascot: Nelson who has his own origin-story video!

I think Nelson and CONvergence’s Connie may need to meet…

Hal-Con also has a robust YouTube channel, with the slogan “not quite entirely unlike live coverage.” Check out the Superhero Workout.

I’ll have more information about my appearance at Hal-con as the dates get closer. In the mean time you can check out their website for more information about the convention.

By the way, my appearance at Hal-Con as a Guest came about because of a conversation that started because a fan asked the convention about having me there. If you want to see me at a convention near you, letting the convention organizers know is the best way to make it happen. Most conventions have a survey or other channels for input from fans/members/attendees. Let them know if you want to see me there!

Free Comic Book Day at The Source on Saturday!

I’ll be signing and sketching at The Source Comics and Games in Roseville, MN this Saturday, starting at 10:00am. Wherever you are, you can visit the Free Comic Book Day web site to find the participating store nearest you. Stop by and grab some free comic books! But if you live near The Source in Roseville (2057 Snelling Avenue North), stop by and say hello! Did you know that Free Comic Book Day comics aren’t free to the comic store you get them from? They pay a small fee to the publishers, which adds up pretty quickly. Whichever comic book shop you visit, please consider making a purchase while you’re there to help reward that store for participating in this great annual tradition!

My C2E2 Schedule/C2E2 Uber Post!

I am leaving this afternoon to drive to Chicago for C2E2. Because I will have limited ability to check my messages during the convention, I’m going to leave you with one last C2E2 uber post! What follows is my C2E2 schedule, how to find me at the convention, things I’ll be giving away and selling, and more. Are you ready? Yes? Good! Let’s go!

C2E2 Schedule

Friday 6:00-7:00 PM: Artist Alley Stage

Drop by and watch me draw, live, projected onto a BIG screen! If you’re interested in seeing my art being created, you won’t want to miss this!

Saturday 7:15PM: Young Justice Fans & Cosplayers Meet-Up

Saturday 7:30-9:30 pm: Charity Art Auction

I probably won’t actually be present for this, but I am donating artwork to it. This is a group portrait of The Micronauts (re-named the “Microns” for legal reasons) as they appeared in Marvel Universe – Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes #7. This art was used as part of a special-effects panel where the Microns were shrinking from action figure size down into their sub-atomic universe.

  

All other times, I will most likely be found at table B7 in Artists Alley. Here’s a handy map:

At my table, I am happy to sign anything you bring me! I will be doing commission sketches, and I will have comics and Young Justice trade paperbacks for sale. I will also have my prints for sale, including this new Young Justice print!

I wanted to do a little something extra special for Young Justice fans at C2E2. So, if you’re hungry during the day at the convention, stop by my table in Artists Alley and give me the password, and I’ll give you a Reach Energy Bar, absolutely free, to keep you fueled for the day.* You won’t know what’s got into you!**

Hal will be running a free to play Young Justice role playing/scavenger hunt from my Artists Alley table as well. If you complete all four missions, you will be rewarded with a special button and a certificate!

 

So, as you can see, there is a lot going on this weekend! I can only imagine how busy I would have been had I also been scheduled for a panel or three!  Anyway, I’m going to go finish packing for my C2E2 road trip! I hope to meet lots of fans there and come back with many stories. The Chicago Comics and Entertainment Expo (C2E2) is THIS WEEKEND and I wanted to share with you the piece I’m donating to the C2E2 Charity Auction which benefits the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The Auction will be held Saturday night at 7:30pm in room 1W475B and if you’re interested in attending we would love to have you come down and join the fun! There will be some great items up for auction, and the proceeds go to a great cause, so please check it out!
