I was never a huge fan of those either. Ironically, as a kid I *LOVED* the little digests DC Comics used to do featuring old material. The would do various “Best of” collections, and for some reason they did an ongoing Legion of Superheroes/Adventure Comics reprint series in that format. I have a couple of shoeboxes full of those things!

But with Batman Strikes, which I already felt claustrophobic with the deep, over-saturated colors, it drove me crazy to see the art look even worse from being shrunk down and cropped slightly to fit the digests’ aspect ratio. I’d love proper trade paperbacks of the whole series, or at least to have the content made available digitally. The last I saw, DC had made the first 3 issues available digitally, but they haven’t yet converted the rest of the 50-issue run.

I hated the little digest things they were doing at the time. Oh well.

I never got asked about new covers. I don’t know if that’s because DC didn’t want to invest in new art, or if they figured that artwork previously seen by fans as a cover of the comic was more effective marketing.

But like most things, I can only speculate about these things. They typically don’t explain their reasoning…

Too freakin’ bad, DC didn’t do a rebrand. Even if we got one more arc out of it, I would have been happy. Isn’t that GL:TAS comic still not cancelled? Sales couldn’t have been that bad. I don’t get it. :(

One question, did you ever get asked to draw up new covers for the trades or were you never even approached?
